There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
